Jake Landes, D.O.

Dr. Jacob Landes of Fort Lauderdale Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine is fellowship trained in hand and upper extremity surgery and currently board eligible for certification in the near future. He has been in private practice since 2016. Originally from rural Kansas, he has developed a commitment to south Florida through his rigorous training at the NOVA Southeastern University Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program.

Dr. Landes completed fellowship training in hand and upper extremity surgery at The University of Mississippi Medical Center where he trained under Drs. Songcharoen and Geissler and had the opportunity to treat myriad acute and degenerative conditions in patients across a broad spectrum as University Hospital is the sole tertiary medical center in the state.

Dr. Landes specializes in hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder issues and considers himself to be a conservative surgeon, utilizing operative intervention only when other measures have been explored fully. In those injuries that do require surgery, he employs for the most modern procedures proven to most reliably minimize discomfort, speed healing, and maximize recovery. He also continues to treat traumatic injuries of all major bones and joints as well and actively maintains his skillset by participating in the orthopaedic trauma call schedule at a level 1 trauma center.

Dr. Landes obtained his undergraduate degree in biochemistry from Oklahoma Baptist University and completed medical school at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, where he further developed his value of hard work and compassionate care. He maintains an interest in his hobbies of auto racing, motorcycle riding, and various other active pursuits.

Dr. Landes is a member of the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopaedics and the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. He was selected as Mentor of the Year following his first year in practice while working with the residency program at Broward Health Medical Center. He prides himself on being a being kind and generous with his time when assessing and treating patients, understanding that patients appreciate being treated as an active participant in their own care through education regarding their particular condition.
